Digital Mobility

Digital mobility solution that scales from one to 64 users. Available on both the
MICS and CICS platforms release 7.0 or higher and BCM release 3.7 or higher.

Digital Mobility features include:
  • Access to standard Norstar business features and voice mail
  • Handsets work like an extension to a normal desk phone and allow phones to
    be switched during a call
  • Instant communications anywhere at work
  • Continuous coverage throughout the workplace - no “dead zones”
  • No airtime charges
  • One-time acquisition cost only - eliminates expensive airtime charges
  • Long battery life ensures mobility handsets easily work a full day before
    recharging is required
  • No static or fading
  • System registration and password protected handsets ensure secure and
    confidential communications
  • Operates at 2 spectrum levels; 1.9 GHz (International) and 2.4 GHz (North
America) without the need for license.

Digital Mobility Hardware

The Digital Mobility Solution consists of the following hardware components:

  • Digital Mobility Controller 080 (DMC 080)
  • Digital Mobility Controller 320 (DMC 320)

The Digital Mobility Controller (DMC) module provides power to each base station
via twisted pair.
The base station can be located up to 1500 meters from the DMC module.
The two levels of controllers allow customers to start small and grow their mobility
solution to meet their needs today and tomorrow without being charged for
additional equipment until the need arises.

DMC 080

Each DMC 80 supports two base stations (each base support 4 calls, handsets)
and six repeaters per base station, yielding a capacity of up to eight simultaneous
calls and a coverage area up to 20,000 square meters. The DMC 080 will support
up to eight handsets and two base stations. Two DMC 080 modules can be linked
together, if incremental growth is required. Two DMC 080 controllers can be linked
together to support up to four base stations and 16 handsets

DMC 320

IT has been specifically designed to support larger sites and will support up to
32 users per controller. Each DMC 320 supports eight bases stations and six
repeaters per base station, yielding a capacity of up to 32 simultaneous calls and
a coverage area up to 80,000 square meters. The DMC 320 will support up to 32
handsets and eight base stations. Two DMC 320 modules can be linked together
to support up to 16 base stations and 64 handsets.

Digital Mobility Base Stations

Base stations (4 channel/4 simultaneous calls).
Each Digital Mobility base station supports up to four simultaneous calls and
provides up to 5,000 square meters of coverage. One base station can support
up to six repeaters to further extend the Digital Mobility coverage.

Digital Mobility Repeaters

Each Digital Mobility repeater supports two or four simultaneous conversations
while extending coverage from a base station by providing up to 50 percent
additional mobility coverage. Up to six repeaters can be registered to a specific
base station in order to further extend base station range. Repeaters are linked to
the base station wirelessly, so no physical connection is required. Local power is
required for each repeater.

External Antenna:

The Digital Mobility solution also includes an external antenna which can be used
in conjunction with a repeater to extend a base station signal up to one kilometer
away. A typical application would be a campus with multiple buildings requiring
coverage.
